Meet the counselor:)
My name is Lori Johnson and I am honored to be the school counselor for Rivercrest Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year. I served as a school counselor for 12 years in Shelby County Schools, and this is my seventh year at Rivercrest. I taught 3rd grade for three years prior to becoming a school counselor and I loved teaching. I am excited to continue serving the students at Rivercrest as the school counselor. I am eager to begin working with faculty, parents, and community leaders to ensure that each child has a productive and successful school year.
As a school counselor, I complete individual and small group counseling. I also complete classroom guidance lessons. Our classroom guidance program provides large group activities where students can learn ways to be respectful, responsible, and resourceful every day. These lessons also focus on academic development, personal-social development, and academic development.
