Rivercrest Elementary School Receives Grant to Champion Creativity in Schools

Portia Tate is one of 20 elementary and middle school principals from across the nation who has been selected by Crayola and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) to receive a “Champion Creatively Alive Children” school grant. Portia Tate is principal of Rivercrest Elementary School in Bartlett, TN. Crayola and NAESP together selected 20 schools to receive the grants, which will fund innovative programs aimed at building creative capacity school-wide.
The Champion Creatively Alive Children grants are intended to help schools nurture children’s creativity and inspire other schools to do the same. Rivercrest Elementary received a $2,500 monetary grant and $1,000 worth of Crayola products. Mrs. Tate will share outcomes from their program via NAESP’s website and a special Principal magazine supplement to help other principals develop promising practices related to arts in education.

Rivercrest Football Night at BHS

Does your family need some Friday night plans? This Friday night is Rivercrest night at the Bartlett High School football game! Families will be allowed on the field to cheer as the Panthers take the field against the Arlington Tigers. All families must be at the visitor’s gate entrance no later than 6:30 pm to be able to stand on the field before the game. Student tickets will cost $1 & adult tickets will cost $5. A small red coupon is being sent home today. You must present this at the game to receive those discounted ticket prices! Don’t forget to wear your Rivercrest red! We hope to see you there!

LUNCH STATUS ROLLS OVER ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH. To secure your free or reduced status from last year you MUST turn in an application within the next day or so. If you do not, you will become full pay status on Tuesday, September 25th. Lunch applications will be approved much faster if they are completed online. Parent Conference Days

Parent Conference Days are September 14, 2018 and February 14, 2019.

This is a half-day for students. Students will be dismissed from school at 11:30 am. The YMCA will be on the half-day schedule. This is the first time for these times, so please make any arrangements for your children to accommodate these dismissal times. Let the school know all decisions on how your child will get home.

The conferences for eight o’clock schools are from 12:00 to 3:00 pm.

Summer Registration

Summer Registration reopens for New Students at Rivercrest Elementary on Wednesday, July 18th, and runs through Friday, August 3rd. Registration times will be 8:30-11:30am and 1:00-3:00pm, Monday through Friday*. (*There will no registration on Friday, July 20th.) See below for more details.

Returning Students, your snapcode was e-mailed on May 7th. If you cannot find the e-mail, please check your junk or spam folder first. You may contact the attendance clerk at the school if you need more assistance.

Shared Residency - Any new shared residency must schedule an appointment with Student Services before completing the on-line registration. Appointments may be scheduled by contacting Student Services at 202-0855 (Option 1 or Ext. #2238).

Acceptable Proofs of Residency:
Most recent MLG&W bill (no cut-off notices or Bartlett water bills)
Current mortgage statement or deed of the homeowner
Lease of the lessee of the home
Rental agreement of the renter of the home
Current real-estate tax receipt of the homeowner
Current public assistance/government benefits check, card, or papers

Be Ready Day will be on August 7 from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. All families are encouraged to attend this day. Families may join the PTA/PTO, drop off school supplies, get their schedule and transportation information*, tour the building, meet with the nurse, etc. (Only families who have completed the on-line registration by July 1, 2018, will be able to meet their classroom teacher and/or pick up their classroom schedule.)

Rivercrest recieves Arts 360 grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission

We are pleased to announce that Rivercrest Elementary School is the second Bartlett City school to receive an Arts360 grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. The Arts360 grant program will support Rivercrest’s arts integration programs to improve instruction and increase student outcomes through the arts. Arts360 aims to bring teachers full circle as learners, collaborators, and facilitators by making arts-based and arts integrated learning a critical component of each child’s educational experience.

New TN Law for 2018: Cell Phones in School Zones

Cell Phones in School Zones
Listed as Law Number One:
Adult drivers can’t talk on a hand-held cell phone while driving through a school zone when warning lights are flashing. This is a Class C misdemeanor with a fine up to $50. This doesn’t apply if the driver is in an exception classification. (law enforcement officers and other) or is communicating with first responders in a bonafide emergency. Drivers can talk on hands-free phones and use hands-free functions to send and receive text. Drivers under ages of 18 can’t talk on the phone or send/receive texts while driving, even if the device is hands-free. (Senate Bill B0954)
Please remember that this law applies to when parents are picking-up their children in the car-line. They should not be on their hand-held cell phones.
